Bossa Nova

Having spent a year teaching and singing in Brazil, performing Bossa Nova with a jazz quartet at various Fairs and bars around Sao Paulo, Maria continued with her love for Brazilian music in the UK, and became involved in various Bossa Nova performances, including a long-running production of the English version of the famous musical play Pobre Menina Rica (Poor Little Rich Girl), written by Vinicius de Moraes and Carlos Lyra and produced by Rogerio Correa.

During her many performances of Poor Little Rich Girl, including Paris, and a production at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Maria finally had the opportunity to perform the play directly to one of its creators, Carlos Lyra, who graced the stage for his own impromptu performance:
